Documentary Filmmaker Alex Gibney Announced as 2015 Hitchens Prize Recipient

The Dennis and Victoria Ross Foundation takes great pleasure in announcing that the winner of the first annual Hitchens Prize is renowned documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney.  The Hitchens Prize, named for the late Christopher Hitchens, is awarded annually to an author or journalist whose work reflects a commitment to free expression and inquiry, a range and depth of intellect, and a willingness to pursue the truth without regard to personal or professional consequence. Mr. Gibney’s long record of penetrating and provocative film-making across documentary subjects ranging from Enron and Scientology to Frank Sinatra and James Brown meets that standard in every respect.

The Prize, which will add to a long list of awards that Mr. Gibney has received, will be presented at an event later this fall where Mr. Gibney will have the opportunity to speak to the influences and values that have guided his career and shaped his work.  A recording of his talk will be posted on our website.
